Antakirinja Matu-Yankunytjatara Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (AMYAC) is an Aboriginal Corporation registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (“the Act”).
The Act regulates the administration and control of Aboriginal Corporations, including the Rule Book [link – 2. Consolidated Rule Book] which binds Aboriginal Corporations and all Members of them. AMYAC’s Rule Book complies with Section 66-1 of the Act.
In accordance with Section 69-5 of the Act, the Rule Book may be modified or repealed by special resolution of AMYAC and within 28 days of making any modification or repeal of provisions to the Rule Book, a copy of the Special Resolution modifying or repealing the Rule Book, as well as a copy of the modification, must be lodged with the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC).
In addition, AMYAC is a Registered Native Title Body Corporate (RNTBC) for the purposes of section 57 (2) of the Native Title Act 1994 (NTA) and is required to carry out functions provided for in the regulations of the NTA in relation to matters set out in section 58 of the NTA.
