Date and Time Late October / Early November (TBA) at Prominent Hill Mine – approx. 630pm- 8pm

Context – The Prominent Hill Yarning Circle is a collaborative connection and learning space, designed in partnership with Antakirinja Matu-Yankunytjatjara People, BHP and supporting contractors. The space is designed to:

  • Illustrate the importance of our relationship with our Traditional Owners and promote the Indigenous cultural practices of the Yarning Circle – to all staff at Prominent Hill
  • Provide an alternative social space at the Prominent Hill Village, for quiet reflection and socialising with teammates ( Alcohol and Smoke Free ) – inclusive to all staff and in line with BHPs code of conduct
  • Provide a networking and connection environment for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Staff to connect with each other, and with members of BHP and Contractor Leadership, to elevate the development and wellbeing of Indigenous Staff at Prominent Hill

Opening Event – BHP Prominent Hill would like to launch this opening event in October/ November
and recognise the importance of this cultural landmark at the village with a formal cultural ceremonial
event, to be delivered by AMYAC, some key notes to help plan the event:

  • Anticipated audience numbers will be 50-100 people. This will include site management, members of the corporate affairs teams, contractors and consultants who have worked on the project and all staff from Prominent Hill are encouraged to attend.
  • We would like the successful AMYAC EOI to address / include the following elements in the opening event: please detail who will perform each of these elements- Please note that each element must be delivered by registered AMYAC members with appropriate cultural knowledge.
    • Welcome to country
    • Smoking Ceremony
    • Traditional Dance ‘Inma’
    • Any other supporting elements ( food, guest speakers, other promotional material ) will be considered
  • As the event is taking place in the evening, we anticipate that those delivering the opening event will be staying overnight at Prominent Hill

Application for EOI Budget and payment –

  • The total budget for the event will be $15,000 – payable to the awarded party by AMYAC in two payments ( 50% prior to the event and 50% on successful completion of the event )
  • Include the following on the EOI Application
    • Details of how each cultural element will be delivered for the event
    • A breakdown of who will be attending/ delivering the event
    • The key contact from the team delivering the event
  • all EOI Applications will be considered until COB 5 October, the selection panel will include Project Manager for the Yarning Circle, Head of the Spirit (Indigenous Ally Network ) Committee for Prominent Hill and the AMYAC CEO
  • Once received all applicants will be notified via email if their application was successful or not, they will then coordinate the elements of the event with BHP coordinating staff.
